Posted by Carlito on 2006-07-15 Milan got lucky; they get to stay in Serie A, perhaps having Silvio Berlusconi as your president helps. Still, Milan will miss the Champions League and will start the season with minus 15 points. Now, there are still chances that some of the teams appeal the decision but don't bet on it. The verdict was relatively clement. We're talking about match-fixing, which totally disfigures the beautiful game. Now what will be interesting are the many transfers that are bound to take place in the next couple of weeks. Juventus boars some of the best footballers in the world, and you can bet many of them are not to keen about playing in a second division. Juve's old coach and Real's new coach, Fabio Capello, has already hinted that he would try to attract some his former players to Madrid. Even before the verdict, there were numerous rumors such as one sending Buffon to Arsenal. The teams were found guilty, but we can only hope that the players didn't have much to do in the scandal.
