Day 24th Germany Takes Third Place
Posted by Carlito on 2006-07-08 The second half was the Bastian Schweinsteiger show. He scored two goals and was responsible for Germany's other goal. His first goal came from a brilliant solo effort which ended with long distance hard shot that fooled Ricardo. Schweinsteiger then saw his free kick deflected by Petit behind his goalkeeper. Petit was credited with the own goal. Schweinsteiger second goal was a repeat of his first, firing another long distance missile which curved away from Ricardo and in the back of the net. Once again, Portugal was having trouble buying a goal despite creating good chances. Finally, a perfect cross from Figo was met by the header of diving Nuno Gomes to salvage something for the Portuguese. There’s only one match left in the Germany 2006 World Cup as France and Italy will be battling for the most prestigious trophy in Berlin tomorrow. |
