Cesc Fabregas The Key For Spain
Posted by Carlito on 2006-06-09

Just over a month ago, I was watching a not-very-thrilling second leg between Villarreal and Arsenal with my brother. After hearing one of the Gunners’ name being mentioned, my brother said: "Who the hell is that?" That!?! That’s just one of the best playmaker in the game today; young Spaniard Francesc Fabregas.

If you’re an Arsenal fan, you know all about Cesc. Over the last year, he became a regular in the Gunners starting eleven, in a way relegating Frenchman Robert Pires to a benchwarmer role. While he doesn’t have the awe and dazzle moves of Cristiano Ronaldo, and is not a natural born striker like England’s Wayne Rooney, Fabregas ability to find his teammates in open space makes him a deadly midfielder. Just ask the EPL leading scorer, Thierry Henry, who’s been on the receiving end of geniuses through passes from Fabregas during the past year.

Spain’s world cup squad is a good one. They have a top class keeper, and incredible talent all over the pitch. If Puyol and the likes can keep guard in front of top notch Iker Casillas, all Spain will have to do is to score goals. If Fabregas lives up to his playmaking skills, Spain’s ace strikers like Torres, Reyes, Luis Garcia, and old but still reliable Spanish legend Raul, will have plenty of occasions to score.

Watch out for Spain, I tell you and I would be willing to bet on Cesc Fabregas as the winner of FIFA’s new best young player trophy.
